Fall essentials :)

I love procrastinating :)

It's evening time here and the weather is feeling pretty chilly! The weather here drives me insane sometimes...one day it's breezy, all autumn- feeling and all of a sudden, I feel like I'm reliving the hot summer days again. Anyhow, apparently the 'strongest typhoon of the year' is going to hit where I live...oh joy. There's nothing to panic over about where I live here...we're almost immune to them.

So I figure I should do a post about Fall. I love this season as it allows me to break into my boots, drink Starbucks and wear scarves. Plus, it means Christmas will be right around the corner :)

Fall essentials

I have always dreamt of owning Candles by Victoria. The downsides of not living in America :(
They have the most amazing 500 scents to choose from...from bakery to Christmas scents. And the best thing about these candles is that they are all handpoured/ homemade! The descriptions of some of these scents actually leave me hungry. Fall is the perfect season to burn candles.

Ahh...I wish we had the pumpkin latte here! I have to settle for the green tea latte which to be, isn't bad at all :) But just...pumpkin + starbucks + fall...can't get any better than that!

I've recently grown to loving painting my nails. I'm not a nail polish girl to be honest...I only really love pinks/ neutrals, nothing bold! But this season has changed my mind. I don't have the money to afford OPI unfortunately. Their fall nail polish collection is inspired by Switzerland/ Alps! I soooo want to get one just because they look amazing and I love Switzerland :) Dark rich berry colours is what I'm looking for right now. I recently purchased Autumn Berry by Revlon- love it!

And last but not least...fall fashion. Keira has one of the best street style. She is made for the fall/ winter season. She loves her boots and trench coats. I definitely look forward to layering, wearing my boots, scarves and warm knitted sweaters!

Gorgeoussity

Marion Cottilard is the epitome of chic. Plus, the fact that she's French doesn't hurt! She is so beautiful and I adore what she wears on the red carpet. Marion is also currently the face of the Lady Dior handbag. Her advertisements for the bag has been beautifully shot in equally stunning locations such as Paris, Shanghai, New York and the lastest- London.

The very first Lady Dior ad with Marion and doesn't she look amazing as usual? She appears to be standing on top of the Eiffel tower in her home country, Paris, France but its obviously been photoshopped. I also love how you can overlook the beautiful city of Paris behind Marion.

Marion then takes on Shanghai, China. Apparently the story behind this shot was that Marion has been caught with a secret agent on a balcony with the Chinese's city futuristic skyscrapers in the distance. I don't think I've seen so much expression on a model's face ever before. A very beautiful and moody ad photographed.

Her last stop was London, UK where she is actually posing in the London Eye Ferris Wheel. Apparently there is an 'assigned colour theme' for each location. This one is obviously grey. I love the sunset at the background. Even Marion's mod hairstyle works. Gorgeous.

Look of the Day: Diane Kruger

Oh how I missed Diane Kruger on the red carpet! Although I'm a tad bit disappointed she had no choice but to wear Calvin Klein (she's on a contract with them), I think she perfectly defines the whole simplicity of CK. Diane had a good red carpet run last year while promoting Inglorious Bastards. This year however...I feel like we havn't seen her a lot or none of her looks has really impressed me :S Let's hope she redeems herself before the end of 2010 comes!

This is how you wear CK without going abroad (*ahem* Hilary Swank). Diane wore a gorgeous bright coral pink halter dress paired with nude strappy heels. She accessorized her look with a light silver clutch and jewelry.

Adore this photo of her. Her turquoise blue eyeshadow looks amazing against the coral dress. Gorgeous :)

Little Miss Perfect: Olivia Palermo

I am on a roll with these posts.

Olivia Palermo is a New York socialite who's style I very much love as she always looks polished and sophisticated without ever looking boring. Plus it doesn't hurt the fact that she's the same height as me! With the recent New York, London and Paris Fashion weeks, Olivia's been pretty busy flying from place to place attending these fabulous shows while showing off her newest emsembles. I've decided to create a quick post just summing up all the looks she's worn. Olivia also debuted her new shorter hair cut which I think is so adorable
Olivia Palermo kicked off the London Fashion Week by attending Matthew Williamson show wearing obviously Williamson, a custom made Frank and Tell jacket, Mawi jewelry and Charlotte Olympia- she sports those a lot!

Palermo wore a cute layered black skirt, structured grey blazer and Elizabeth & James booties while attending the Peter Som show. I like how the her wavy shorter haircut mimics the pattern of her skirt.

One of my favourite Palermo looks in this fashion week! She looked gorgeous wearing a Giambassta Valli white dress, the same grey blazer (see above) and mustard coloured Fashionista heels.

Palermo donned another funky blue skirt with her favourite structured Frank and Tell jacket and Charlotte Olympias. Accessories include a brown Hermes clutch and

Palermo attended the Valentino show in Paris wearing a ruffled Valentino jacket and lace dress. She paired her look with a pair of Jimmy Choos. I love that she took a risk but the jacket is a tad bit too big for her...

She even manages to look chic walking down the streets! Palermo wore a pair of daring booties, Hermes bag, military inspired embellished jacket and leather shorts.

Gorgeous pretty things

Yep, its that time of the year again to update my so called 'Wish list' on Net- a porter. Sometimes it still amazes me to see items out of stock or low on stock. How can people afford to splurge thousands of dollars on luxury items like this? Okay, maybe I'm just a tab bit jealous.
Gorgeous black lace Tibi dress. It's the classic LBD with a twist on the sleeves. I love how feminine and stylish it is at the same time. It's a definite holiday party dress. The shoe's I adore as well.

Talk about looking effortless. I love this black and white silk crepe dress by Maje. So sophisticated and polished looking. The shoe's are questionable.

Perfect head to toe look by net-a-porter. Adore the patent red heels, skinng belt and understated black clutch. Olivia Palermo has already worn this printed silk chiffon dress twice. You really can't blame her...
What a classy chic looking bag. I can totally imagine someone like Diane sporting this Lanvin leather shoulder bag wearing a cute emsemble (fedora!) on the streets of Paris. The details are amazing on this bag.

If I had to get one bag for this fall...it would definitely be this ruby- red leather tote by Mulberry. The colour is so rich and gorgeous along with the gold buckles and chains. This bag can totally work with any fall emsemble.

This pair of Mulberry boots are very nordic- like for some reason...must be the fur! I love these because they tick all the boxes of perfect fall/ winter boots: black, suede, heeled, fur!
These Charlotte Olympia cocktail heels have a 6 inch heel with a 1.5 inch platform. That sounds crazy. If I had these, I won't dare to wear these out. I'll just sit them in my living room and stare at they all day long. How creepy I know but these purple satin platforms are so amazing.
Ruby glitter! Mary- janes! Chunky platform! Gorgeous fall shoes once again. They remind me of Dorothy...must be the ruby colour. Imagine if Dorothy sported these 5 inch heels instead of her 'ruby slippers'.
:)

Star Style Spotlight: Emma Stone

Once school starts in a week, I know I'll be swamped with work which means I'll hardly update this blog. I just have this sudden urge to do a post something even though I just updated last night :)

Today, I'll be breaking down Emma Stone's fashion. The quirky, audacious red- headed is known for roles in 'Zombieland' and 'Easy A'. She has recently been signed onto the reboot of Spiderman nabbing the role of Gwen Stacy. I love how dresses on red carpet as its very her and she has the most beautiful and unique features!
At the 2009 Comic Con photocall, Emma Stone opted for a casual yet cute look. She wore a pair of skinny jeans paired with a nude tank top with an oversized accented bow. Emma's hair is always perfect.

Emma walked the premiere of 'Easy A' wearing a beautifully embellished Emilio Pucci dress. I love how her red hair contrasts with the blue and gold sequins of the dress. Emma looks uncomfortable in the dress but props to her for wearing such a risky dress!

She later switched things up by wearing this pretty Stella Mccartney dress with navy blue pumps.

For the MTV awards, Emma looked stylish wearing a leather Emilio Pucci dress, Bottega Veneta purple clutch and black pumsp. Very sleek and age- appropiate at the same time!

Star Style Spotlight: Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is a rising star in the Hollywood showbiz. Her performance in 'An Education' garnered an Oscar nomination and from then on, she has starred in impressive films such as 'Wall Street' and 'Never Let Me Go'. Besides her wonderful talent, Carey has also proved to quite the fashionable lady on the red carpet. Her unique and quirky approach to the red carpet has made me adore what she wears. To be honest, Carey seemed more of a pedestrian beauty with the brown boyish short hair cut. Even her style was questionable to me and her awkwardness in photos made me take no notice of her. But since she's dyed her hair blonde (looked horrendous at first) and grown her hair out a bit, her style's changed all of a sudden. She is so well put together and always so elegant. >
Carey Mulligan arrived at the Cannes photocall for 'Wall Street'. She looked sophisticated wearing a plum coloured Rolant Mouret dress and Fendi suede shiffon heels.

She later surprised us all by wearing this sleek Azzaro dress with a gorgeously embellished bow detail. I love the waves she did to her hair. Very polished and ladylike look.

Carey arrived at Toronto Film Festival premiere of 'Never Let Me Go' looking spectacular in this Christopher Kane galaxy print dress and ruby red Prada pumps. I love the silhoette of this dress as its so unusual and Carey pulls it off. Her hair is adorable and doesn't age her at all unlike her old hair.

At the New York premiere of 'Never Let Me Go', Carey mixed up her makeup as she gave us a smokey eye look! Her hair is so amazing and at this stage, I was starting to fall in love with her. She wore a beautiful Ellie Saab black lace dress and black peep- toe heels.

I'm not exactly where she's attending this photocall but nonethelss, she looked adorable. I adore her leopard platforms as it prevents this look from being too dull. I don't care much for her halter- neck Vionnet dress. Again, her hair is perfection with the tiny braids!

Before doing an interview at New York for her lastest film, she stopped to sign some autographs and to show off her emsembled. Carey looked appropiate wearing a grey fitted sweater dress, ruby pumps and matching ruby bag.

And to top it all off...Carey looked gorgeous once again at the New York premiere for 'Wall Street'. Yes she's wearing YSL black pumps but I think it works with this look. Her Nina Ricci look is so feminine and delicate and her hair deserves top marks!

Carey's fashion sense has definitely evolved...thank goodness! She is definitely one of the fashionable ladies along with Kruger, Knightley, Palermo I look up to :) Not only is Carey gorgeous and dresses well but is also a fantastic actor!

Good literature and fashionable Brits

Time has gone by so quickly. It was just last Friday when I handed in my UK uni apps. Thank goodness that's over. Next week is Half Term meaning a whole week of freedom! It's kind of bittersweet at the same time as we have tons of work.

Anyhow, I have been doing some quality reading over the past 2 days. Having heard of all the raving about this novel and since a movie adaptation is coming out soon, I thought I should give it a try. The book is 'Never Let Me Go' by Kazuo Ishiguro. It was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 5 years ago. I read the book in two days and it made me realise how much I missed reading. Anyhow, the book left me feeling empty and depressed. It was a beautifully haunting story written. It also left me with a lot of answers yet none of this could be answered in the novel which in a way was what Kazuo intended it to be. I don't think I've read something so unique and powerful like that before. *Spoilers ahead* This novel is about the lives of three friends who have been brought up in the seemingly idyllic Hailsham School. The twist in this novel is what destiny and fate awaited for them. Kathy, Ruth and Tommy are actually human clones bought into this world to later donate their organs in their adult lives. To sum this novel up, its about love, friendship and humans coming to terms with their morality.

So the London Film Festival was opened by the movie adaptation of novel starring Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield. Such a strong and talented cast- all British! Since I love to stalk what celebrities wear, I obviously took notice of what Keira and Carey decided to wear to the photocall and premiere :)

Right before the premiere, the cast attened the photocall. Carey wore a mustard Proenza Schouler dress with YSL black pumps. Keira wore an interesting Rodarte Spring 2011 ensemble paired with Christian Louboutins. They look so chic and fashionable.

Carey Mulligan wore a beautiful halter neck dress from Vionnet. I also loved how she went for gold strappy platforms instead of the boring old black pumps. I would've much preferred Carey to have worn a black belt as the dress is just hanging off her. Either way, I'm glad she took a risk!

Keira stole the show in this gorgeous beaded Chanel dress from the 2011 Spring collection. To be honest, she never looks bad in my fashion books. I adore her new haircut especially the waves! Her footwear fails to impress me here (she loves those chunky Charlotte Olympia's of hers!) but I'll forgive her because she looks stunningg.

Two beautiful talented British actresses! I love how they have also been friends for so long already.
