The last time I did a post on celebrity street style was quite a while ago. I find it fascinating stalking celebrities on fashionspot because of their candid street style photos. I've said it before but a celebrity's look on the red carpet can dramatically differ when they're 'off-duty'. Personally, a celebrity called a 'fashion icon' should not be judged purely based on their red carpet looks but also their street style. Afterall, you can always just hire a stylist. Some celebrities claim they don't have stylists aka Blake Lively but the whole world knows she gets style advice from Karl Lagerfeld to Eric Damon, Gossip Girl stylist. The celebrities' whose style I'll be dissecting today is not based on whether I like them. They are simply outfits that are inspiring whether they've been styled or not. But honestly, to have even your daily outfits styled is just plain sad and lackluster.
Zoe Saldana knows how to work these flared high-waisted jeans. They can look tricky on people without the right proportions but Zoe has them. She paired her jeans with a billowy camel blouse with a matching coloured tote and sky high wedges. Effortless.
Her style is so fantastic that I decided to include another look. Did you realise that both of her photos look like shots from a magazine? She photographs like a model, jealous! This time Zoe opted for skinny jeans tucked into a loose white top that ever girl has to have during summer. Her boots are questionable because it is hot but she pulls them off. What really caught my eye in this outfit is the pop of colour from her red hot shoulder strap bag.
I love Keira Knightley. Sure her pouting can be annoying but she's a class act. She looked absolutely effortless walking around the streets of New York in a loose maxi-dress paired with sandals, sunnies and a shoulder strap black leather bag.
Clothes absolutely adore Diane Kruger. That's why Karl Lagerfeld is like a 'father' to her. Lucky girl! This photo isn't recent but she looked gorgeous and fashionable while cycling. One of my pet peeve is people pairing boots with shorts, skirts and dresses during summer. It is so redundant and shortens your legs...stumpy! Diane has amazing legs though so obviously this isn't a problem. She looked beautiful wearing a white tank top paired with short-shorts, biker boots and an eye-catching orange burnt vest cardigan. Her oversized tribal inspired gold earrings are amazing.
Unfortunately I can't express the same love for DK to Kate Bosworth as well. I admit that Kate has exceptional style and 99.9% looks flawless. Her problem however is that she is so dull...there is nothing interesting about her except from her clothes. True fact. Here she is looking chic and cool during the 2011 Coachella festival. Her Topshop American flag t-shirt is a cute tribute and I love how she matched it with fun accessories and lace-up booties. Okay, Kate is another person who can semi pull off boots with shorts look.
Olivia Palermo looked polished as she walked through the streets of New York...Upper East side perhaps? She proved to us that minimalism and simplicity is perhaps the way to go. She looked chic wearing a black sweather, olive coloured skinnies and grey ballet flats. Obviously her look wouldn't be complete without her cat-eye sunnies, trade-mark red nail polish and expensive gold accessories. Her tan coloured Mango (high street stuff for the win!) oversized tote matches perfectly with her look.
If Jessica Simpson wore this look, it would've been disastrous. However on Charlize Theron, it just looks too cool (lame but true!) Charlize has the right attitue to pull off denim on denim. The trick to this look? Always choose two different shades of denim. Here she chose a blue denim button-up top tucked into dark washed skinnies. She finished her look with white plimsolls, black tote, fedora and of course a cup of coffee.
