Early in the Morning

Good morning! That is technically not correct because it is 11.22am at the moment....I have a bad habit of waking up pretty late. That must not continue.

Yesterday, I experienced one of my strangest days back home since I came back from Europe. I was out on the streets walking barefoot with a broken umbrella as it was pouring cats and dogs. What's worse, it was also thundering at the same time. Little did I know that once I came home and had switched on the t.v that they had hoisted a black rainstorm signal! Anyhow, that's how unpredictable weather is here during summer. It definitely reminded me of the song 'Rainiest Days of Summer' by Elizabeth & the Catapult.

Aurora Borealis. Isn't that such a pretty word? I have always wanted to see an aurora as there's something very magical and powerful about those lights. The closest I came to them? When I was in Norway and Finland. However, the only likelihood of witnessing them is during the winter nights when it is literally 24/7 darkness up in the Arctic circle and Lapland. Definitely one of the things to do before you die :)

So I've recently developed an obsession for Havaianas. Or just any comfortable and pretty looking flip flops. Ipanema's are also up there in my wishlist. There's just something so appealing to those flip flops right now. I figure this will be a good investment no? They certainly come with a price- around HKD$120 and up...Sooner or later, I will need a good pair of flip flops. They can also be my 'rain shoes'. I am not a trainers girl or converse. Bottom line, I don't own any shoes that covers my feet entirely. So surely getting a pair would be a wise idea...

Summer is the time when you have some good quality reading time. When will you have the oppurtunity doing this during school days when you're swamped with work and MORE unappealing reading? On my trip, I brought Interpreter of Maladies and The Reader. I finished the former but not the latter. I am definitely a picky reader. I also have a bad habit of skimming through bits that I find boring (I even did that in the Harry Potter novels). Right now, I am attemtping to read 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'. I've heard a lot about this novel and right now, I am genuinely enjoying it. I've read 100+ pages since I started last night which isn't bad at all! It is a novel about a woman's life in Afghanistan when the Taliban takes over and the daunting obstacles she overcomes. It's not your typical chick flick novel but it is a powerful and gripping tale that will surely move you.
